Former Miss America Heather French Henry has filed paperwork indicating she will run for Kentucky secretary of state this year.
French Henry, a Democrat, filed a letter of intent to raise and spend money on the race with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance on Tuesday, according to documents obtained by the Courier Journal.
She has yet to submit paperwork to be on the 2019 ballot, however. The deadline to file is Jan. 29.
French Henry is the first Kentuckian to hold the Miss America title, which she won in September 1999. She did not immediately return a request for comment.
For years French Henry, who is married to former Lt. Gov. Steve Henry, has been a rumored candidate for various statewide offices, including U.S. Senate and governor.
